Health Care Volunteer Services

Our in-country staff and host partners appreciate your professional medical expertise, but frequently are unable to fullassist with clinical tasksy utilize your medical skills because of local laws and program delivery complications. Because access to medical services in developing communities is often limited, health-care volunteers can sometimes provide non-invasive services such as diabetes screenings, blood pressure checks, well-baby exams and public health instruction.

In some countries, medical students can assist local health care workers with patient education. Scholarships are available to qualified students to apply to the program fee. Learn more here.

While the needs and the working conditions are very basic, your contribution can still be life-changing.

"I enjoyed getting to know the doctors and nurses I worked with, learning about their lives and how they care for people. I developed a close personal relationship with the midwife at the hospital. Friendships were formed easily and the sharing of the local culture was abundant. I was struck speechless by the warm, caring outpouring we received from the people we worked with. A baby was born on my birthday, and the parents allowed me to be part of that special moment in their lives. The pictures they allowed me to take of them will always be cherished."
~ Rhonda Corbella, Cook Islands Volunteer
